Thornybush Game Reserve is an 11500 hectare piece of land incorporated into the Greater Kruger National Park, situated close to the local Hoedpsruit airport. Sharing a fenceless border with the equally famous Timbavati Game Reserve, this reserve is prime big 5 habitat consisting of open savanna, woodland with patches of tangled thicket and thorny scrub. This game reserve features 147 mammals including the “Big Five” , 114 reptiles, 507 birds, 49 fish, 34 amphibians and 336 trees species and with this array of fauna and flora, the visitor is bound to have an experience like none other. Dedicated rangers and trackers enhance the experience on early morning and late afternoon drives on a private game reserve where guests can enjoy activities not permitted in Kruger Park, including off road and night driving to experience the thrill of getting right close up to a kill, or nocturnal animals.

Thornybush Game reserve hosts only six lodges which offer a variety of accommodation and tastes, Some lodges are family friendly whilst others specialize in honeymoon and romance exclusivity in the lap of luxury.
