Motswari Game Reserve, Limpopo

Motswari Game Reserve lies deep in the 53000 hectare, Timbavati Game Reserve, close to the border or Kruger National Park. This exclusive 15000 hectare reserve is known for having one of the highest concentrations of lion in Africa, sharing space with the other big five and all the other game species associated with the Greater Kruger National Park. There is also a chance to spot the world famous white lions of Timbavati, a genetic variation of common lions. Since animals wonder freely, guests are almost guaranteed to be treated to big five sightings and will also have the opportunity to see a broad spectrum of plant, animal and birdlife. Over 400 species of bird have in fact been recorded in the area, a sizeable percentage of the 505 species found in Kruger Park, making Motswari a definite haven for bird watchers. The Nhlaralumi River and its tributaries provide wonderful riverine habitats maintaining the high concentration of wildlife.

The guides of the various accommodation establishments are residents of the area and have, in addition to the scientific knowledge that we encourage them to attain, an intimate knowledge of the location and wildlife that comes from a lifetime of co-existence with their surrounds. Collaboration via radio contact between guides on a game drive virtually insures an exciting experience for every guest.

Motswari Game Lodge is exclusive in that there are never more than 30 guests present at any one time, providing a more serene environment for the visitor’s African experience. With 15 luxury-appointed en-suite bungalows, each with air-conditioning, and all offering unrivalled bush views, guests enjoy a high level of comfort which complements our level of service excellence.
