Located on the western boundary of the Kruger National Park and the Klaserie game reserve, the 65 square kilometer Umhlametsi Game Reserve (meaning ‘one days water’) offers superlative game viewing opportunities. With the majestic Drakensberg in the distance, this is the location where ‘time stops and life begins’. Lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo cheetah and make their home here together with all the other usual plains game antelope are drawn here, by two perennial rivers flowing through the reserve. For the executive requiring exclusivity, Unhlametsi offers a fully equipped 26 guest conference centre and personalized service at the Kwena Safari Lodge where appointments are superb and reminiscent of a bygone era. Experienced rangers will plan walking and driving safaris to suit guests needs. The reserve has a number of superb vantage points for sundowners with views of the Drakensberg mountains and the surrounding bushveld.
A host of activities abound nearby too; golfing at Hans Merensky Golf Course, abseiling in the Drakensberg and a granite hill at Mica, white water rafting, hot air ballooning, day excursions to Kruger Park, The Moholoholo wildlife Rehabilitation Centre and the Hoedspuit Endangered Wildlife Centre, to enhance the experience.
